The Dining Room Table Update :: It's Done!

I talked about the beginning of this make-over on the blog here.. and now for the rest of the story...

As I lamented to a friend over a Facebook pic of my dining room table that it had taken almost 2 months to get this thing done, he sweetly reminded me that "oh, you know, you did have that foot surgery thing going on..but no biggie!"

And he was right.  I DID have some surgery on my foot which kept me off my feet for three weeks.  Nothing scary or anything, but I could not walk on my foot for three. whole. weeks.  I used a knee roller, or they also call it a scooter.  It's not real conducive to painting or any type of household DIY.  I was basically shut down.

My very sweet and supportive husband lugged the table out to the garage on two different occasions to do the painting for me.  Heck, he was the one who lugged it out when I first started on it!  But anyway.. he tried two times to paint it with the Rustoleum Heirloom White in the spray can.  Y'all, I don't want to be disrespectful to Rustoleum, but it just looked awful.  The spray was not consistent and there were grainy blotches of yellowish/brownish color that we could not get right.  I tried contacting them through their website but as of today I have yet to hear back from them.  Sadness.

We finally painted a piece of primed wood with the Rustoleum color and took that to Sherwin Williams.  They color matched it almost to perfection.  We put our new Homeright sprayer to work and finished the project this past weekend.  We are very, very happy with the results.  Now I'm going to shut up and just show you more pics.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about it.  Such an improvement..  paint! (and some elbow grease)..  Do you like my piece of driftwood on the tray?  I found that on our family lake weekend and it's been drying in the garage for weeks!  I love it because it kinda looks like bone.. so cool!

So, the before and after again..

I just love it!

  3. It looks beautiful! I have a kitchen table in our garage that I've been working on for months. Being pregnant has made it difficult to finish the project! We are stripping it and my husband will stain it. One of these days we will finish! It's definitely been waiting longer than 2 months. :)

    1. Thanks, Erin! It's hard to get stuff done when you're in the thick of it raising children - can't wait to hear about that table when it's done :)
