Enter Pinterest where I spied this beautiful thang and fell in love!
Sooo pretty, right? It's from the blog For Chic Sake and she calls it an Etagere~~ That sounds waayy better than just a shelf. It's an Ikea unit and costs $40. My hubs and I went to Ikea last weekend to look at some other things and when I saw the shelf etagere I started jumping up and down "oh oh this is it, oh oh I need this" so we put it in the cart.
Hubs put it together and I painted it - spray painted that is, with my new favorite Valspar, shiny "Brilliant Gold" - same paint I used on my frames in the dining room. Here she is in the garage before getting painted..
It's a very bad picture so here is one from the Ikea website. It has three glass shelves in the middle and solid on top and bottom.
And here is mine! All dolled up with a stereo and some other fun stuff (really hard to photograph that corner, mind you)
For Chic Sake actually removed both solid shelves, replacing the bottom one with a mirror and the top with clear glass like the rest. Since I was putting a heavy piece of equipment on the bottom I left it. I still have the top solid shelf too, but plan on replacing it with glass. I just love the way it turned out.
Shame on me for being so excited that I forgot to take the "before" picture, but you get the idea! I think we'll probably get another one in the near future to put over on the other side to balance things out. We will probably have to rethink the plant and the round table on the end. Maybe a smaller one..
